C5BDI connects USAF & NOVA based small business for an USAF STTR Phase I contract. This effort addresses a national defense-related mission need to leverage human-machine teaming and analytics to enhance predictive analytics solutions. The main goal for this project is to demonstrate the benefits of an explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) enhancement, starting with processes related to maintenance analytics, with extensibility to many other crucial data-driven Air Force use cases with practical, cost-effective transition & implementation. The mission impact of this project on the Air Force will be a deeper understanding of machine learning recommendations, improved confidence in analytical processes, and new platform insights for the Warfighter, now with human-readable explainability and decision justification for machine-provided recommendations.
