C5BDI is proud to support Beverly Hills, CA-based small business win a USAF Pitch Day supporting the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (AFRSO) in delivering a rapidly deployable, mobile, and disposable additive manufacturing AM lab. The lab will be housed in a 20-foot or 40-foot disposable mobile container that inclusive of a self-contained 3D manufacturing facility. The unit will include all components and resources necessary for secure metal and fiber AM, final machining, inspecting finished products, and communication. This will accelerate the AFRSO’s ability to produce tooling, fixtures, support equipment, and aircraft parts for multiple platforms including A-10, B-1, B-2, B-52, C-130, C-17, C-5, E-3, F-15, F-16, HH-60, J85, JSTARS, T-51, TF34, TG-16, U-2, VC-25.
These self-contained, mobile AM units will allow on-site printing of necessary parts and components, and the development of prototype equipment in hours, not days. The mobile unit will be equipped with a self-contained 3D manufacturing facility geared for medical, military, and extreme environments that require quick production and prototyping on the front lines. This also includes all the components and resources necessary for AM. Teams can print metal and fiber parts, perform final machining, and measure and inspect finished products.
