C5BDI connects USAF and Cambridge, MA small business for an AFWERX led COVID-19 focused SBIR Phase II. This small business has developed a medical marvel and game changing device with new approach to mechanical clamping which interdigitates the clamping elements, so that it does not crush the tissue clamped, preserving the tissue or vessel’s viability. The clamp is delivered through a 1mm diameter needle, and can clamp off major arteries and veins. The implications of this technology across the USAF, DoD and VA are astounding. The C5BDI team is very excited to see what this company and the government can do in Phase III to reduce mortality for our Warfighters and civilians.
