Our pay it forward C5BDI giveback initiative continues with our recent contribution to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, and specifically, transplant-related expenses for Collins Khalatbari. This organization helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing support to their family.
Baby Girl Khalatbari was born on March 23, 2020, and soon after, it was discovered that her liver was not functioning correctly. Her biliary atresia (BA) caused bile to enter her blood and cause infection. It also required a liver transplant which she successfully received from a donor in September of 2020.
Transplant-related costs for a child of this age range between $1 million and $2 million. These costs include medications, pre-transplant evaluation, transplant surgery, complications of the underlying disease, and repeat visits to the hospital for tests and imaging. 100% of the funds raised will go to Baby Khalatbari’s transplant-related costs. Thank you to Jennifer Caugh from the C5BDI team for introducing us to Baby Khalatbari and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. It is our pleasure to donate on your behalf.
